Cloud LMS vs self-hosted LMS
A self-hosted LMS runs on servers your company owns or rents, and your IT team installs, updates, and secures it. A cloud LMS moves all of that to the provider. You sign in and start working.
The trade is control for convenience. Self-hosting gives you full control of the environment but also full responsibility for keeping it running and safe. Ask where your data is stored and whether it stays in the EU, which matters for GDPR. Ask about uptime commitments, backups, security practices, and how you can export your data and training records if you ever leave.
