Delayed Post-Training Evaluation Survey
Immediate feedback tells you if people enjoyed the training. This survey, deployed 6 to 12 months later, tells you whether it changed anything. That's the measurement that matters for leadership and budget decisions.
90%
of training is forgotten within a week without structured follow-up (Ebbinghaus curve)
72%
of L&D teams cannot demonstrate whether training changed on-the-job behaviour
6–12
months post-training is when behavioural change and business impact become reliably measurable
What this survey measures
Kirkpatrick-aligned framework
Built on the industry-standard four-level evaluation model, reaction, learning, behaviour, and results, adapted for delayed measurement.
Skills transfer on the job
Find out which specific skills or behaviours participants are actually applying, and which ones didn't survive first contact with real work.
Barriers to implementation
Identifies what's preventing skill application: lack of relevance, insufficient support, time constraints, or gaps in the original programme design.
Concrete business outcomes
Collects specific examples of measurable improvements, efficiency gains, error reductions, cost savings, linked directly to the training.
ROI and investment validation
Provides evidence to justify L&D spend to leadership, in terms they understand: business results, not completion certificates.
Future programme insights
Surfaces what worked and what didn't so you can make targeted improvements before running the programme again.
How to run delayed evaluation
Download the survey template
We'll email you the full template immediately. Questions are ready to use, copy them into your survey tool of choice.
Schedule the send in advance
Set a reminder at the time of training to send the survey 6 to 12 months later. Strategic programmes warrant the full 12-month window; shorter programmes can use 6.
Send to all participants
Include a short intro explaining why you're following up. Participants who understand the purpose respond more thoughtfully and at higher rates.
Analyse, report, and improve
Compile responses to identify patterns across skill application, success factors, and barriers. Share findings with stakeholders and use them to refine your next programme iteration.
