What’s new in Coursy: automatic user anonymisation and AI translations

Two new features this time, both aimed at taking routine work off L&D teams.

Automatic user anonymisation

Coursy can now automatically anonymise the personal data of users who have been deactivated for a set period. Admins set the period once, and the cleanup runs in the background.

Why it matters
Inactive accounts pile up, especially in organisations with high turnover or many seasonal and contract workers. Cleaning them up by hand is tedious and easy to forget, and when it doesn’t happen it becomes a compliance risk. With automatic anonymisation, data minimisation becomes a setting instead of a recurring manual task, and you can show that you don’t keep former employees’ personal data longer than needed.

Worth knowing
This feature supports one part of GDPR, data retention. It isn’t a complete compliance solution on its own. Anonymisation can only be reversed manually, one user at a time, so it’s worth choosing the period carefully.

AI translations

Coursy can now translate learning content automatically using AI. All text in chapters and sections, including headings, can be translated into any language Coursy supports.

Why it matters
Multilingual training is a normal requirement in the Baltics, where organisations often need Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and English versions. Translating courses manually is slow and expensive, so rollouts get delayed or training runs in only one language, at the cost of understanding. Getting a course into another language now takes minutes instead of weeks of translation work and cost.

Worth knowing

  • Only text is translated. Images, videos and other media are not.

  • Translations should always be reviewed before publishing.

  • Content is currently processed within the EU and isn’t used to train AI models.

What’s next
Media translation and an AI content creator are the logical next steps.
