Event Recap: AI and Learning Design

At the end of August, 28 HR and L&D professionals gathered in the Coursy office to work through a question that doesn't have an easy answer: how do we create useful workplace learning content with AI? Not just more content. Useful content.

The room included people from Enefit, Viru Keemia Grupp, Tallinna Lennujaam, PERH, Maxima, Selver, DPD, Alexela, and more. Experience levels ranged from just getting started to already running serious AI workflows, which made the conversation richer than a room of beginners or a room of experts alone would have.

Where AI helps, and where it can't

The sharpest insight of the evening came from Sandra Aria (Enefit), who drew a clear line between what AI can own and what humans have to own.

AI can take on analysis, structure, drafts, translations, and technical production. But learning goals, fact-checking, understanding the learner, judging quality, and taking responsibility for outcomes stay with people.

Danila Kargajev (Viru Keemia Grupp) backed up that idea with a spontaneous demo, showing how VKG turns dry source material into something far more engaging.

Hands-on in the hackathon

During the hackathon, groups worked with real documents and real SCORM/xAPI attempts, testing everything directly in Coursy. A few things stood out to participants themselves:

• Giving AI precise instructions is a skill in its own right.

• Quality still takes time. AI speeds up production, not judgment.

• Copilot is a great conversation partner, right up until it isn't.

The reminder that stuck: the tool matters, but knowing what you're doing matters more.

AI lowers the cost of producing learning content. It raises the stakes for learning design, judgment, and responsibility.

What's coming in Coursy

Alongside the hackathon, our Product Manager Martin shared what's coming next on the platform:

New Analytics, live now (beta). The new analytics solution is already running. If you'd like early access, reach out and we'll switch it on for you.

AI translations, in development. Soon you'll be able to take text-based content and have it automatically translated into other languages via AI. Interactive elements, images, and video will follow in later phases.

AI content creation, on the roadmap. The in-platform version of what we experimented with during the hackathon is coming: structured, no prompt-limit frustrations, no need to start over mid-session. Just a few questions from the admin side and you're off.

Analytics AI support. Instead of pulling traditional reports, you'll be able to ask an AI assistant what data you need from the platform.

Learner support. Helping employees navigate their courses, find relevant content, and explore what's inside a course.

Manager view improvements. A smoother reporting experience for managers.
