From Courses to Skills: Coursy LMS Product Update

This month marks an important step in how Coursy approaches employee development.
With the launch of the first phase of our Skills management solution, we’re moving beyond course completion and towards measurable, structured growth. This update lays the foundation for skill-based development, helping HR and L&D teams clearly understand where their people are today — and what needs to happen next.
Below, we break down what’s new, why it matters, and how it solves real challenges teams face every day.
- What’s new (high-level, human)
“This month we have taken a major step in evolving how your teams grow. We have launched the first phase of our Skills management solution. It is a foundational toolkit that allows skills library to be built and custom skill scales to be defined. Automatic leveling up is available along with automatic development plans based on skill gaps. - Why it matters (user impact)
– Precision growth: No more guessing which courses people need. You can bridge specific talent gaps with automated planning.
– Reduces admin: By linking courses to skill progression, the system handles the “Level ups” so HR doesnt have to manually update spreadsheets
– Strategic Visibility: Get a bird’s-eye view of the actual skills within your organization, not just a list of certificates. - What problem it solves (real-life)
For many HR and L&D teams, the biggest frustration is the “Now What?” factor. You see that an employee finished a leadership course, but you don’t know if they are actually a better leader or if that knowledge is being applied. We’re moving away from “tracking activity” and toward “measuring growth.” This update solves the pain of fragmented data.

What’s coming next (small preview): Course Results Reports
Now that we’ve built the foundation for skills, we’re turning our attention to how you measure success. We are currently working on a total overhaul of our Course Results Reports. We’re moving towards providing actual insights, decluttering your view so you can focus on the metrics that actually impact your bottom line.
